About Us

Gathering for Women – Monterey (GFW) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that operates the only Day Center on the Monterey Peninsula addressing the day time need of homeless and housing insecure women. At the Center, we provide meals, shower facilities, and clean clothes, as well as case management and enrichment activities. A woman’s basic needs and her security must stabilize – only then can she begin to think about her future.

In 2021, GFW, in partnership with Community Human Services, opened Casa de Noche Buena, the first ever housing first 90 day shelter for homeless women and children with families on the Peninsula.
