Description
Full of humor and emotional depth, a fresh adaptation of Austen’s treasured novel comes to life at the Outdoor Forest Theater in a bright, bold and theatrical way. Set in gossipy late 18th-century England, and filled with humor and emotional depth, Sense and Sensibility follows the fortunes (and misfortunes) of the Dashwood sisters—sensible Elinor and hypersensitive Marianne—after their father's sudden death leaves them penniless and with reputations at stake. Together the women must learn to mix sense with sensibility to find happiness in a society where love is ruled by money. Kate Hamill’s adaptation has married the classic novel with modern theatricality, where descriptive narrative is replaced by clever staging to engage the audience's imagination. The result is a “fast paced, dynamic form of storytelling that is foot forward, transformative, and FUN!” Adapted by Kate Hamill; based on the book by Jane Austen "...an unconditional delight...invigorating...a bouncy, jaunty take on Austen." -The New York Times Winner of the 2016 Off-Broadway Alliance Award for Best Unique Theatrical Experience
