Description
The Race for Open Space is a three week virtual/live hybrid event hosted in accordance with public health and safety guidelines. Dedicated to fostering an appreciation of natural spaces in Monterey County, the Race for Open Space celebrates the health benefits of time spent in nature while providing an outlet for runners and walkers of all ages to find wonder among Monterey County’s iconic landscapes. Funds raised support Big Sur Land Trust's work throughout Monterey County. People are encouraged to walk, hike, and run on their own or on Big Sur Land Trust's conserved lands in celebration of nature. Designated trail courses are available to race, and participants are invited to log their miles towards a collective 10,000-mile goal. Exclusive, limited-capacity Adventure Courses on lands closed to the general public are available April 17, 18, and 24, made possible through the partnership of Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District, California State Parks, and the Santa Lucia Conservancy.
